Certificate III in Aged Care 

The Aged Care course is designed to equip students with the skills required to care for the needs of older people. This includes learning about challenges facing older people, working in a team, and preparing and reviewing service delivery for older people. You will also see what it is like, working in an aged care facility. 

There is a strong practical focus to this course, which allows you to apply the skills whilst also doing theory. 

There are a number of career paths open to you upon successful completion of this course.These include:

  • Assistant in Nursing
  • Support Worker
  • Carer
  • Personal Care Assistant
  • Personal Care Worker
 
    Course Duration

The course is taken over a six-month period at the South West Training Services venue.

Students will be required to complete assignments throughout their period of classroom learning. 
Students are also required to complete on the job training (a field placement). You will be required to complete a minimum 200 hours of work in an aged care organisation. This can be your own place of work if you are currently working in the aged care industry. Discuss this with the coordinator on enrolment.
