Certificate III in Aged Care
The Aged Care course is designed to equip students with the skills required to care for the needs of older people. This includes learning about challenges facing older people, working in a team, and preparing and reviewing service delivery for older people. You will also see what it is like, working in an aged care facility.
There is a strong practical focus to this course, which allows you to apply the skills whilst also doing theory.
There are a number of career paths open to you upon successful completion of this course.These include:
- Assistant in Nursing
- Support Worker
- Carer
- Personal Care Assistant
- Personal Care Worker
Course Duration
The course can be taken either as classroom studies or by correspondence. Classes are held for one day per week over a six-month period. Students are also required to complete on the job training (a field placement). You will be required to complete a minimum of 150 hours voluntary work in an aged care organisation. Taken together, the classroom studies, placement work and assignments required to attain this qualification will take most students from 6-9 months.
Cost: $187-50 for those eligible for the Victorian Training Guarantee; $1200-00 for those not eligible.
